Sean T. Kean, Wall Township (R-11)

Mr. Kean was elected to the Senate in November of 2007.He previously served in the General Assembly since 2002 where he was re-elected twice and served as Assistant Republican Whip.

Mr. Kean was born May 21, 1963.He grew up in Deal and is a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School.He graduated from Seton Hall University, received a master's degree from Columbia University, and earned a law degree at Seton Hall University Law School.

The Senator is employed as an attorney in private practice.

He served on the Monmouth County Environmental Council and is a member of Republicans for Environmental Protection.He previously served on the Wall Township Planning Board and served as president of the Wall Township Republican Club.

Senator Kean serves on the New Jersey Legislative Services Commission and is a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore, the Wall Township-Asbury Park Elks, the Jersey Shore Running Club and the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of the Jersey Shore.He is on the Community Advisory Board of the Monmouth County Historical Association and is a Silver Life Member of the Asbury Park PBA.

He serves on the Advisory Board of Asbury Park Corps of The Salvation Army, the Board of Directors of the SCAN Learning Center, is an Honorary Director of the Jersey Shore Performing Arts Center and is a Trustee of the Eden Wooley House in Ocean Township.In addition, he currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Council of State Governments' Eastern Regional Conference.

Senator Kean sponsored legislation which mandated carbon monoxide sensors be installed in all residences and was the sponsor of the New Jersey Clean Car law which requires zero emission vehicle technology be made available in the state.The Senator also sponsored legislation that would increase the penalties for kidnapping a child under the age of 16 and authored the law which clarified the regulations regarding the possession of striped bass.
