ASSEMBLYMAN KEAN TO HOST
TRANSPORTATION MEETING
MEETING TO FOCUS ON THE SALE
OF THE PARKWAY & OTHER TRANSPORTATION ISSUES
ASSEMBLYMAN SEAN KEAN TO HOST TRANSPORTATION MEETING
Assemblyman Sean T. Kean (R-11), a member of the
Assembly Transportation and Public Works Committee, is
hosting a meeting on Tuesday, June 19 to focus on
transportation issues. Assemblyman Kean is holding this
meeting so that Monmouth County residents can weigh in
on the proposal to sell or lease the state’s toll roads
and other transportation issues that affect the region.
"It is
imperative that area residents are provided with the
opportunity to weigh in on important transportation
issues that could have ramifications for many years to
come," said Assemblyman Sean T. Kean.
Governor
Corzine is currently considering a variety of proposals
including selling or leasing the state’s toll roads or
borrowing against future toll revenues in order to pay
for current state expenses and programs.
"The
potential sale or lease of the state’s highways is a
critical issue that could greatly impact on Monmouth
County residents," said Assemblyman Kean. "Not only
could toll costs drastically increase, but employees
could be negatively affected and the roadways may not be
properly maintained. This proposal could have serious
ramifications on our daily commute, our pocketbooks, and
the state transportation infrastructure."
Kean
plans to invite the New Jersey Department of
Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri, members of the
Assembly Transportation Committee and individuals
working in the transportation field to speak at the
meeting. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting.
"New
Jersey is a commuter state so any type of toll increase
is going to directly affect millions of residents."
remarked Kean. "Monmouth County has many commuters
driving to New York City and northern New Jersey and I
believe these residents must be heard on these issues."
The
transportation meeting is being held at 7:00pm on
Tuesday, June 19 at the Wall Township Municipal
Building; please call (732) 974-0400 for more
information on the transportation meeting.
