ASSEMBLYMAN
SEAN KEAN
ANNOUNCES SENATE RUN
Assemblyman Sean T. Kean has announced that he will seek
his party’s nomination to run for the 11th District
State Senate seat that is being vacated by Palaia.
“The
people of the 11th District have been blessed to have
had Senator Palaia representing them for many years,”
said Kean (R-Wall). “I would consider it a tremendous
honor to have the opportunity to continue the legacy
that Joe Palaia has crafted in Trenton and here in
Monmouth County.”
Kean
said that as a Senator he would continue his efforts to
make more New Jersey affordable by reducing spending and
cutting taxes.
“People
are leaving New Jersey in droves to escape the
skyrocketing taxes,” said Kean. “As a State Senator, I
will continue to fight against the Legislature’s tax and
spend ways that have made it increasingly difficult for
the hardworking taxpayers to afford to live and work in
our state.”
As part
of that effort, Kean said he would continue fighting for
meaningful reform of the system that has produced
highest in the nation property taxes.
“The
state’s inability to control its spending has led to the
massive property tax increases that are forcing more and
more people from their homes”, he said. “I want to go to
the Senate to tell Governor Corzine and his colleagues
that the people of the 11th District can no longer
afford to foot the bill for their free spending ways.”
Kean
joined the Legislature in 2002 and was re-elected in
2003 and 2005. He was the sponsor of a law that requires
a certain number of cars sold in New Jersey be equipped
with emission reducing technology. He also sponsored
legislation toughening the penalties for kidnapping
children and led the fight to end the practice of
awarding homeland security grants based on partisan
politics.
Kean
also advocated for a special session on property tax
reform and opposed the last four bloated state budgets
which increased taxes and fees.
“I am
proud of my time in the Assembly and I look forward to
going to Trenton to fight for the people of the 11th
Legislative District as their State Senator,” he said.
